Services
Allotments The Parish Council owns the Millennium Meadow off Grange Lane in Littledean Village. The allotment is leased to, and operated by, Littledean Allotment Association.
Burials The Parish Council owns and manages Littledean Cemetery situated off Grange Lane. Full burial and cremation plots are currently available
. Ashes can also be scattered at the adjoing Memorial Garden.
In addition, the Parish Council owns and manages Saint Ethelbert's Cemetery. Please note no new burial plots are available at Saint Ethelbert's Cemetery. Only reserved plot burials and re-openings for internments and cremations are permissible. Saint Ethelbert's Churchyard, adjacent to Saint Ethelbert's Cemetery, is a closed churchyard owned by the Diocese of Gloucester.The Parish Council maintains the Churchyard. Maintenance in this context is generally limited to tree and grass management, ensuring the safety of memorials and the good repair of boundaries.
Festive lighting Every year the Parish Council arranges Christmas street lighting in the village.
Grants The Parish Council awards grants to local organisations and for community facilities. Anyone interested in applying for a grant should contact the Parish Clerkfor more information.
Grounds maintenance The Parish Council cuts grass on its own land and at the United Reform Church, St Ethlebert's Churchyard, Littldean Play Area, Littledean Recreation Ground, Littldean Community Centre and the road verge between Littledean Jail and Denton's corner. This work is undertaken on our behalf by Countrywide Grounds Maintenance.
Information boards The Parish Council maintains noticeboards in the village of Littledean, Pope's Hill, Green Bottom and Shapridge. Information about forthcoming Parish Council meetings and other information can be viewed at these notice boards.
Memorials The Parish Council is responsible for providing and maintaining the War, Nail Smith's, Miner's and Dairymen's memorials.
Public conveniences The Parish Council leases the public conveniences on Silver Street from Forest of Dean District Council. These conveniences are open daily (except Christmas Day and Boxing Day) from 8.30 am until dusk.
Recreation Facilities The Recreation Ground, off Grange Lane in Littledean, has a football pitch and skate park. The Parish Council is the sole managing trustee of the Recreation Ground charity (Registered Charity Number 301559). The land is vested in the name of Official Custodian for Charities. Members meet separately from Ordinary Council meetings to discuss matters relating to the charity. Minutes of the meeting are available here.
Litter The Parish Council undertakes all street cleaning within the village of Littledean. This includes litter collection on highways and in public spaces and emptying of public litter bins.This service is paid for by the Forest of Dean District Council and is undertaken on our behalf by the Royal Forest Centre.
The Parish Council also provides and empties litter bins on land owned or managed by it and provides and empties dog waste bins at various locations in the Parish. Dog waste collections are undertaken on our behalf by Forest Equipment Services.
Street furniture The Parish Council provides and maintains benches, bins and bus shelters at various locations across the Parish.
